The Star of ‘Baretta’ Robert Blake passes away at 89!

An American actor, Robert Blake who is known for his roles in the movie, In Cold Blood, and the TV series, Baretta has passed away. He died on 9th March 2023 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 89 years old. 

His family members said that he died peacefully with family and friends. His niece, Noreen Austin confirmed his death through a statement. He said that he died from long-term heart disease, surrounded by family at home in Los Angeles.

Born in Nutley, New Jersey, Robert Blake started acting at the age of 2. At the age of 5 years old, he appeared as a regular cast in the Our Gang film comedies. Since then, he acted in several hit movies and TV series throughout his career like The Treasure, In Cold Blood, Lost Highway, and so on.

His career was overshadowed by accusations that he murdered his second wife on 4th May 2001. His wife, Bonny Lee Bakley was shot dead in his car in the Studio City neighborhood of Los Angeles. During that time, she was alone in the car.

After four years of Bonny’s death, he waited for a trial in jail and a jury in LA found him not guilty of his wife’s death. However, a civil jury finds him responsible for her death and order him to pay Bonny’s family $30 million, which left him bankrupt. After the verdict, he shared with the media saying:

“If you want to know how to go through $10 million in five years, ask me how. I was a rich man. I’m broke now.?

His first marriage was with Sondra Kerr from 1961 to 1983. He married Bonny Lee Bakley in 2001 and stayed married until her death in 2001. In 2017, he tied the wedding knot to his third wife, Pamela Hudak but they separated one year later.

He received an Emmy award and a Golden Globe award for his performance in the TV series, Baretta. His role in the CBS movie, Judgement Day: The John List Story received an Emmy nomination. Though he is no more in the world, he will always be remembered for his incredible acting career.

He is survived by his three children: Rose, Delinah, and Noah. He shared Delinah and Noah with his first wife while his other child, Rose was with Bonny. All of his children are actors by profession.
