Katherine Macgregor is a former American actress. Famous for her portrayal of Harriet  Oleson in American TV drama, Little House on the Prairie, starring Melissa Sue Anderson, Karen Grassle, and Matthew Labyorteaux.

Early Life

Katherine Macgregor entered this earth as Dorlee Deane MacGregor on 12th January 1925 in Glendale, California. Her birth sign was Capricorn. As of 2019, her age would be 94 years if she was alive.

Katherine holds American nationality and belongs to the White-American ethnic background. Most of her childhood days she spent at Colorado. Katherine also attended the University of Denver. There she prepared for her future joining the drama club.

Career

After she graduated from the University of Denver, MacGregor came in the New York City where she found work both onstage and in movies. In the year 1954, she appeared American crime drama film, On the Waterfront as uncredited part.

MacGregor studied her acting skills with renowned teachers named Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner. Likewise, she honored for her work on the stage such as touring productions of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance.

Furthermore, MacGregor came to California to pursue her career in acting. Later in a small supporting role, she appeared on TV shows, Emergency! and All in the Family as a secretary, nurse or teacher. After that, she worked in an art gallery.

Then MacGregor hired for her career-defining role: Mrs. Harriet Oleson on Little House on the Prairie. However, she withdrew from screen productions in favor of local theater. But then she dedicated herself to the Hindu religion. And started taught acting at the Wee Hollywood Vedanta Players to children. She was retiring in the early 2000s.

Little House on the Prairie as Little House: A New Beginning in its final season. This is an American western drama television series. The star of the series Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson.

This is about a family living on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, in the 1870s and 1880s. Also, it’s an adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best-selling series of Little House books. Television producer and NBC executive Ed Friendly

Katherine Macgregor had married twice in her life untill her date. However, she got divorced from both marriages. At first, she married her husband Bert Remsen who was also an American actor who died on 22nd April 1999. Macgregor was one month older to Remsen. The former married in the year 1949. After a year later they fall for divorced.

After the divorced with Remsen, Macgregor again married for the second time with Edward G. Kaye-Martin. Edward G. Kaye-Martin was fourteen years junior to Macgregor who was an Actor, teacher as well as a theater director. He had worked in theaters & universities across the country since the mid-`60s. The former couple was in a marital relationship from 1969 to October 1970.

Death

On November 14, 2018, MacGregor died at the age of 93. At the time she was at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, California. Similarly, her cause of death is natural due to old age.
